Daniel is the Chairman, CEO & Founder of Kajeet, a mission-driven company he first began dreaming about in 1996. Before launching Kajeet, Daniel served as CEO & Vice Chairman of VCampus Corporation, a public company that pioneered the delivery of e-learning applications and services for students, business people and government workers. Prior to VCampus, Daniel was part of the team that built - and successfully took public - USinternetworking, where he conceived of, launched, and led the AppHost™ business unit. USinternetworking was acquired by AT&T. Daniel previously built international commercial relationships for the delivery of communications technologies and services for Sprint and Global One Communications, Sprint’s joint venture with France Telecom and Deutsche Telekom. Daniel’s early career was in commercial banking, and public service. He has worked extensively in local government, and later served as a senior staff member with the National Performance Review of the office of the Vice President of the United States.
Daniel holds an AB in political science from the University of California, Berkeley, and an MBA from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania. Daniel has raised over $120 million of investment capital and is a named inventor on 24 U.S. patents. He is active in many business, investment and technology circles, including Vistage and Mindshare. An avid bicyclist, runner and reader, Daniel most enjoys spending time with his wife and two children, whose names are incorporated in the word “Kajeet.”
Ben is responsible for marketing, sales and operations, overseeing the company’s strategic direction and the architecture and engineering infrastructure that help make Kajeet successful. Prior to Kajeet, Ben was the founder and COO of SimplyWireless.com, an online wireless distribution company. He also spent 6 years in the U.S. Navy, including a term as an Assistant Program Manager in the nuclear surface ship propulsion program.
Ben earned his B.S. and M.S. in Aerospace Engineering from MIT, and a Masters of Engineering equivalent in nuclear reactor design through the Department of Energy. Ben’s inspiration for making Kajeet the best that it can be comes from his three children.
David plays an integral role at Kajeet; he is responsible for executing business development programs to increase company growth and works closely with his marketing team to drive greater brand awareness and generate sales leads. Prior to Kajeet, David was the Chief Sales and Marketing Officer at Management Concepts and Worldwide VP of Marketing for Learning Tree International.
David holds a BFA in Design from the Massachusetts College of Art and Design and an MBA with a focus in Marketing and Organizational Behavior from George Mason University. He spends his free time with his wife and two sons.
Michael is an active force in the ed tech community. He is regularly invited to participate in panels and speak to industry leaders where telecommunications and education intersect. Michael brings 10 years of dedication to ensuring students have equal access to technology. At Kajeet he oversees the product team and leads business development.
Prior to Kajeet, Michael held multiple management positions at Sprint in their K-12 and education divisions. Michael was recently elected to the Board of Directors for the Consortium on School Networking (CoSN). In Atlanta, he serves as the Chairman for the Board of Advisors to AIESEC and as a volunteer with AFS Intercultural Programs. He is a founding member of the Georgia Gwinnett College Technology Advisory Council and serves on the Advisory Board for Georgia Tech's Center for International Business, Education and Research (GT-CIBER).
Michael earned his undergraduate degree from Georgia Tech where he studied Computer Science with a focus in Management and International topics. He received his MBA from the Goizueta School of Business at Emory University. He lives in Atlanta with his wife and two children.
Molly, as Vice President of Service Delivery, is responsible for Kajeet customer-facing and internal operations which include launching new MVNO clients, on-going MVNO support, customer care services, and carrier management. Prior to Kajeet, Molly worked at XM Satellite Radio as a Program Manager and at MCI/Worldcom as a manager of MVNO operations and project management.
Molly earned her B.A in Computer Information Science from Elon University in North Carolina. She enjoys a variety of outdoor activities and spending time with her two children.
David leads the team of Kajeet engineers who build the parental controls for Kajeet cell phones and the filters for our Education Broadband™ that keep children safe online.
Before Kajeet, David spent 10 years with the company, Amdocs, leading hoards of developers in building OSS/BSS systems, managing data-center operations for 1st tier telecom carriers, and delivering mega-software products. He left Amdocs to pursue his interest in entrepreneurship and founded Hegati, a startup company that fused social media with location-based services, and he’s still a board member. As if one new venture weren’t enough, David joined Kajeet in its formative days, enticed by the opportunity to help ‘ramp it up.’
When he’s not working on the ‘next great thing’ at Kajeet, you’ll find David spending time with his family, at the gym, or driving his car really fast on track days.
Michael, as Director of Indirect Sales Channels, is responsible for leveraging resellers and partners to sell Kajeet products and services. This role has direct responsibility for driving sales through the indirect sales channel. Michael supports and liaisons with partners for program and product information, product demonstrations, lead pursuit strategies, program process protocols, and pricing information.
Prior to Kajeet, Michael was Senior Vice President of Kwikpoint and Vice President of Business Development with Management Concepts and has held several executive management positions. Michael has 20+ years of experience in the fields of education & training, as an educator, account manager, and in various executive management positions.
Michael holds a B.A. degree from Salisbury University in Communications & Arts, and a minor in Computer Science, and a minor in Business Administration. In his free time, Michael enjoys spending time with his family, playing an occasional round of golf and generally being outdoors.
Zack is responsible for daily education operations. He works closely with our internal teams and nationwide carriers, ensuring the highest level of customer satisfaction.
Prior to Kajeet, Zack was the Logistics Manager for Bumkins Finer Baby Products, a manufacturer of high-end baby products. Zack also served three years as a search and rescue commander in Israel’s Defense Forces.
Zack earned his BBA in business management from Northern Arizona University. He likes to spend his free time soaking up the beautiful Scottsdale, Arizona, weather with his wife and son.
Linda leads the marketing team and oversees all public relations for Kajeet. She loves that Kajeet combines her background in technology with kids. Prior to Kajeet, she helped launch the Swedish children’s clothing brand Polarn O. Pyret into the US retail market. She worked for many years in Corporate Communications at AMD and before that managing multiple national and international tech clients at Cohn & Wolfe.
She holds a bachelor’s degree in Journalism from the University of Texas. She lives in Virginia with her husband and two children.
Rick Bolander is currently Managing Director and co-founder of Gabriel Venture Partners and Michigan eLabs, early-stage venture capital firms that are helping to build innovative, profitable and sustainable companies in the Internet, information technology, communications and IOT sectors. He began his investment career in residential real estate after launching Blue Sky Ventures, a Chicago residential real estate investment firm. A career in venture capital later ensued when he joined Chicago-based Apex Investment Partners, where he was a General Partner.
Rick has been involved in more than 50 venture deals, and has led over $100 million in early-stage financings. He was an early investor in disruptive companies such as AccessLine Communications (acquired by Telenetix), Arula Systems (acquired by Raritan), Chegg (IPO – NYSE: CHGG), Concord Communications (IPO - NASDAQ: CCRD), Encentuate (acquired by IBM), IPWireless (acquired by Nextwave), Neopath Networks (acquired by Cisco), NetScaler (acquired by Citrix Systems), Persistent Systems (IPO - BSE India: PER EQ), Placeware (acquired by Microsoft) and Tut Systems (IPO – NASDAQ: TUTS), as well as, on the public boards of Concord Communications (acquired by Computer Associates) and Exodus Communications (IPO - NASDAQ: EXDS, then acquired by Savvis). He currently serves as a board member of MobileForce Software and Kajeet, and is a charter member of The IndUS Entrepreneurs (TiE).
Prior to his career in venture capital, Rick spent nine years in various operating roles with AT&T, Lucent, Chevron and African Communications Group ranging from product development, operations management, marketing and sales management.
Rick received his Bachelor of Science and Master of Science degrees in electrical engineering from The University of Michigan where he taught computer architecture, and his MBA from Harvard University. In his spare time he can be found cheering on the Wolverines or climbing a mountain.
Randy Glein joined DFJ in 2002. He is a co-founder and managing director of DFJ Growth, where he focuses on leading investments in high-growth technology companies. Randy's career spans more than 28 years in the technology and media industries as a venture capital investor, operating executive, and entrepreneur. He is currently responsible for investments in Anaplan, Avant, Box (NYSE: BOX), DataStax, Fonality, SiSense, SpaceX, Tremor Video (NYSE: TRMR), and Yodle. Previous investments include Legacy.com (Great Hill), Performics (DoubleClick/Google), SmartSignal (GE), Tesla Motors (NASDAQ: TSLA), TicketsNow (Ticketmaster), Tumblr (Yahoo), Twitter (NYSE: TWTR), and Yammer (Microsoft). Forbes named Randy to its annual Midas List of top technology investors in 2013, 2014, and 2015.
Prior to co-founding DFJ Growth, Randy was CFO of FeedBurner, a DFJ portfolio company acquired by Google. He previously held senior operating positions at DIRECTV and Screenz, where he contributed to the formation, development, and growth of these businesses. Randy has served in senior investment roles with Tribune Ventures and Hughes New Ventures, where he participated in the founding investments for DIRECTV, Motient, and XM Radio. He began his career as an engineer with GM Hughes Electronics and Martin Marietta, where he worked in the fields of wireless and satellite communications, signal processing, and optoelectronics.
Randy holds an MBA from UCLA Anderson, an MSEE from the University of Southern California, and a BSEE with high honors from the University of Florida.
