Closing the Digital Divide

Our mission is to support digital equity and technology leaders as they work to connect the nearly 25 percent of Americans without reliable Internet access at home.

The State of the Digital Divide in 2023

In Kajeet’s 2022 consumer survey, results revealed Americans' strong feelings that high-speed internet is a basic necessity, and concerningly, 64% of U.S. adults are worried about their ability to pay for this necessity.

Diving deeper into how this affects the everyday lives of Americans even as we return to a pre-pandemic “normalcy,” we have found that the need for connectivity may be even greater than before and is here to stay.  Download Full Report »

What is the Homework Gap?

The 'Homework Gap', a term coined by FCC Chairwoman, Jessica Rosenworcel, refers to the lack of reliable Internet access for school-aged children and teens outside the classroom. When the pandemic began, 15-16 million K-12 students did not have adequate access to the internet at home, and up to 12 million students are still under-connected today

Students of Color 56 % of disconnected students are members of Black, Latinx, and Native American communities.
Rural Areas 26 % of all households in rural America are caught in the digital divide.
Low-Income Households 44 % of families with annual household incomes of less than $30,000 are disconnected.
