New Education Broadband Plan Gives School Districts the Ability to Filter Safe Content, Set Time Restrictions, Receive Reports & Learning Analytics on Choice of Two Nationwide 4G LTE Networks

MCLEAN, VA — June 29, 2015 – Kajeet, the only wireless broadband service provider dedicated solely to providing safe and affordable mobile connectivity for students, announced today at the ISTE Annual Conference in Philadelphia, its latest pricing to ensure even more school districts can afford to provide access for their economically disadvantaged students. For as little as $9.99 per month, districts can provide education-only CIPA-compliant Internet access outside the classroom.

As districts expand their 1-to-1, BYOD and blended learning programs in the upcoming school year, administrators are looking for an affordable solution to keep students connected to the Internet at home for educational purposes. Roughly 7 in 10 teachers assign homework that requires access to broadband, according to the Federal Communications Commission (FCC),and that presents a real problem called the “homework gap” for the 30 percent of students without broadband access at home.

“When a district or school requires students to access online textbooks, shared documents or websites after school, it is the responsibility of the district to provide the tools for those who cannot afford them,” said Kajeet CEO and Founder Daniel Neal. “Larger districts are faced with what might seem like an overwhelming number of students to keep safely connected for school work. We want to help those districts level the playing field by offering even lower rates.”

Kajeet Choice

In addition to the new, lower pricing option, Kajeet is also introducing a new Education Broadband™ plan called Kajeet Choice that gives schools and districts the flexibility to monitor and administer their own mobile Education Broadband. Under the Kajeet Choice plan, schools or districts purchase cost-effective, discounted data in bulk from one of two national 4G LTE wireless broadband networks. The data pool is placed in the account and is available for use across all devices. Data does not expire and rolls-forward each month. Additional data can be added to the account at any time.

The school or district team manages and administers the program through the patented, easy-to-use, Sentinel® Administrative Portal which includes the ability to:

  • Set policies and filters for student use for specific academic content (apply whitelist/blacklist rules, filter websites for specific academic content);
  • Manage time-of-access restrictions;
  • Monitor data consumption and site destination; and
  • Access program analysis and reporting
