“The biggest advantages we’ve seen with Kajeet are the filtering, making sure that we’re CIPA compliant and being able to manage bandwidth and overage charges. We wanted to make sure that they were using it appropriately - using it for education and not just streaming entertainment.”
"I like being able to see which websites students are going to and which sites were blocked. Family members can use the hotspots to connect as well. It’s a community service for us to offer this.”
“I love Kajeet because it can be customized. When students go home, we know we can shut off the devices. I don’t want kids up at midnight. We want them to have good filters and be turned off at night. The price is very reasonable for the service.”
When your students are in school, there is peace of mind that they are safely and securely connected to the Internet due to in-school filtering software. But what happens when the students bring home those school-issued devices? How can you achieve that same level of safety and security at home? We know parents and teachers are the best possible filters, but it is unrealistic to think that an adult can be over your students’ shoulders every minute of every day – that is where our patented* education filtering comes into play!
Our innovative Kajeet Sentinel® cloud portal analyzes and categorizes millions of new URLs every day and provides customizable filtered Internet access to keep students focused on homework. Our filtering controls allow schools and districts to:
*Kajeet® products and services are protected by the following issued U.S. patents 8,929,857; 8,918,080; 8,774,755; 8,774,754; 8,755,768; 8,731,517; 8,725,109; 8,712,371; 8,706,079; 8,667,559; 8,644,796; 8,639,216; 8,634,803; 8,634,802; 8,634,801; 8,630,612; 8,611,885; 8,600,348; 8,594,619; 8,588,735; 8,285,249; 8,078,140; 7,945,238; 7,899,438; 7,881,697. Other patents are pending.
The World Wide Web can bring the world to every child’s fingertips, but how much of that world do you want your students seeing on your district-issued devices? Our cloud-based CIPA-compliant, education-only filtering can help you ease your worries, but it is also deployed more quickly, less expensive, and more convenient than building a staff-consuming Virtual Private Network (VPN) back to your district servers.
Kajeet supports Google SafeSearch and YouTube Restricted Mode.
Google® SafeSearch™ blocks “Adult Content” in which search results, images, and videos that have been deemed as adult content will not show up in the browser. With SafeSearch on, sexually explicit video and images will be filtered from Google Search result pages, along with results that might link to explicit content. No filter is 100% accurate, but SafeSearch should help our clients avoid most adult images and sites.
YouTube® Restricted Mode™ is a default Google setting that helps screen out potentially objectionable content that schools and districts do not want students to stumble across while using YouTube for class assignments. You can think of it as a parental control setting for YouTube. While it's not 100% accurate, YouTube uses community flagging, age-restrictions, and other signals to identify and filter out inappropriate content. PLEASE NOTE: The Kajeet Managed Plan blocks all of YouTube by default. However, if a client chooses to purchase the optional Open YouTube Service, Restricted Mode will still be in effect to ensure an added layer of protection. Restricted mode will not restrict non-education entertainment – only adult-oriented and objectionable videos should be blocked.
Kids are kids and we know they like to socialize on sites like Facebook®, Instagram® and Twitter®. We also know that they - or their family members - will use school-issued devices for entertainment such as Netflix®, YouTube®, Hulu®, and Pandora®. These are the types of sites that eat up broadband data, consume heavy bandwidth, and can cost schools and districts thousands of dollars in unnecessary costs. These social entertainment sites also distract kids from the task at hand: schoolwork. That’s not what district-issued devices are for.
According to Ericsson’s Mobility Report, two-thirds of data traffic comes from Facebook, YouTube, Netflix, Instagram and Snapchat. Because Education Broadband service is paid for by the school or district, it is designed to allow students to access tools for learning, but curb the natural temptation to have the Kajeet SmartSpot and broadband access become their source for television shows, gaming, social networks, and video chatting.
Kajeet Education Broadband keeps students focused on schoolwork and not distracted by the social and entertainment content on the Internet. We want to make every effort to ensure students are able to access the educational content they need. If there are specific educational resources your students need to access, Kajeet can narrowly tailor modifications to the filter so that we do not open up significant non-educational use by students.
